Freddie Ljungberg looks forward to Celtic fans' passion

Freddie Ljungberg has identified the passion of the Celtic supporters as one of his reasons for signing for the club from Chicago Fire.

"In America the league is much better than it gets credit for but Celtic are a massive club and what I missed was the passion for the sport," he said."If you're looking for passion then it's here. There is great support. The fans and the passion are very good."The former Arsenal midfielder, 33, has joined Neil Lennon's side until May.
The Celtic manager admits to being "hugely tempted" to start the Swede in the Old Firm derby against Rangers at Ibrox on Sunday, but is concerned about Ljungberg's lack of first-team football.
Lennon said: "It's a tough question because he hasn't played much football since October but obviously he's still in great condition and he's come through the medical, which is quite stringent here, with no problems at all.
"He is in contention."
At a media conference on Friday, Ljungberg described Celtic as "a very big club with great management staff too" and has pledged to wear with pride the club's number seven shirt, that worn by his countryman Henrik Larsson in his days at Celtic.
"When I was at Arsenal I had Ian Wright's number and he was a legend there," he said.
"I'll try to do the same here with the number seven shirt - to wear it with pride and do my best."
Ljungberg left Major League Soccer after an 18-month spell in the United States, his first port of call being on the west coast at Seattle Sounders, the team he joined some months after leaving West Ham in 2008.

Manchester City set to sign Wolfsburg's Edin Dzeko, according to reports, transfer news

Manchester City are set to bolster their hopes of winning the Premier League by signing the Wolfsburg striker Edin Dzeko for a fee in the region of €40m, according to reports in Germany.
The Wolfsburger Allgemeine reports that City will pay an initial fee of €30m, followed by a further €5m should they qualify for the Champions League this season. An extra €5m would be required to for a signing-on fee and to pay agents. Bild reports that Dzeko could be in place in time for City's visit to Arsenal next Wednesday.Roberto Mancini has made no secret of his admiration for the Bosnian striker. "We have the chance to win the league this year and the decisive factor could be Edin Dzeko," he said yesterday. "This player can decide titles and that is why we want him."The Bosnian striker has long been eager to leave the German side for a bigger club. He has been linked with a move to Milan as well as City, but Antonio Cassano's arrival from Sampdoria reduces the chances of Dzeko joining the Italian club.Dzeko was the top scorer in the Bundesliga last season, having finished runner-up to his team-mate, Grafite, when Wolfsburg won the league title in the 2008-09 season. He has already scored 10 times this season, taking his overall tally to 66 in 111 games for the club.

Inter appoint Leonardo as boss

nter Milan have confirmed Leonardo as Rafael Benitez's replacement, giving the Brazilian a one-and-a-half-year contract as their new manager.Speculation had linked the former AC Milan coach with the position even before Benitez officially parted company with the European champions on Thursday, and the Nerazzurri have now officially confirmed his appointment. The 41-year-old, who had one season in charge of Milan during the 2009/10 campaign, will officially start work with the Serie A champions on Wednesday.A statement on the club's official website read: "Welcome to Leonardo. It will be the Brazilian coach to lead the team from December 29."Leonardo has a contract that will bind him to Inter until 30 June 2012."For Leonardo, the most sincere and good luck, we believe that he has the class and experience of a champion and his mentality will get the team together to get results."Club president Massimo Moratti had insisted earlier that he would not be naming Benitez's successor until after Christmas, but has now reneged on that to appoint the former World Cup winner.Leonardo takes over a side that are in seventh place in Serie A, 13 points behind leaders Milan.Apart from attempting to bridge that gap, one of his primary tasks will be attempting to retain the Champions League when the competition resumes in FebruaryInter must overcome Bayern Munich over two legs if they are to stand a chance of keeping the trophy they won when Jose Mourinho's side beat the Germans in May.Benitez's six-month stay at the San Siro was officially ended on Thursday.Despite lifting the Italian Super Cup and the FIFA Club World Cup during that time, the Spaniard had struggled to adapt to life as the popular Mourinho's successor, and seemed to issue Moratti with an ultimatum over transfer funds earlier this week. That led to the breakdown of his relationship with Moratti, who, after Benitez left the club, was quoted as saying: "I'm sorry the relationship with Benitez is over, but the split had now become inevitable."Leonardo's first meeting with his former employers is scheduled to take place on April 3.On Thursday, Milan's vice president, Adriano Galliani, admitted it would be strange to see Leonardo in blue and black."I do not know what my reaction would be," he said."He certainly has an important history with Milan. He made a career with AC Milan; first as a player, then as a coach and a manager."

What’s gotten into Carlo lately?

Is the pressure finally getting to King Carlo?

Mad as hell? Of course not. But our usually calm, understated leader has this week been in a verytalkative mood. Even more unexpected? He’s chosen the media as his outlet.
I. First there was the public rebuttal of England’s Brave John Terry. Our captain admitted this week what many of us had lamented since the summer: that a lack of squad depth has, and will continue to be, a significant worry.
Terry said: “We’ve missed some key players at key times and it is a case of keeping everyone fit now over the Christmas period, where we have two games in three days. In the past
, we had a big squad and could rotate and put other players in. We don’t have that now we have quite a young squad and it’s a time for everyone to stay together like we always will. Once we’ve turned that corner, we can move on from there and wait for other teams to slip up, which they will do.”
No argument from me there. Ancelotti, however, disagrees.
“I think we had a problem because we had a lot of players injured all at the same time. For this reason, we had a bad moment. When you are not in a good moment, it’s very difficult to put in the young players because you don’t want to put responsibility on their shoulders. But now it’s different. The squad is good, the players are in good condition, without injury, and we can play this game well. At our best.”
This is hardly a big deal; it’s not as if Carlo is lambasting Terry for making such a statement. Nevertheless, it is a public riposte. You have to admit, this is not something we’ve come to expect from Carlo.
II. Next on the menu, Carlo’s feelings on Premier League scheduling.
The Italian has, at least until now, never been one to upset the establishment. You know, he’s usually full of praise for the Premier League. Not exactly this time around.
Carlo took soft aim at the league for scheduling our match against Bolton only two days after the trip to the Arsenal. The man appears to be learning form the best in this regard – Sir Alex Ferguson.
Anceotti bemoaned: “I want to say something about the Bolton game because we won’t have the possibility to recover. We’ll have two days, compared to Bolton who, unfortunately, play on the 26th. We play on the 27th. That’s not a good thing, to have one day less to recover.”
Is Ancelotti angry? ”Yes. I’m not happy about that.”
Whoa. Well done, Carlo.
Thoughts: Me, I’m pleased to see the Italian showing a little emotion. Of course we don’t know what goes on behind the scenes – hell, Carlo might throw chairs and shit – but it’s safe to say the club is lacking fire right now. Yes, Spurs was a step in the right direction, but more is required. A rebirth – of sorts – starts at the top.
Ancelotti’s demeanor, I think we can agree, can work against him from time to time. The composed, cool temperament is wholly admirable, and has been effective, but there are times when the management position at Chelsea Football Club calls for some real passion. This club, particularly its core, is used to that approach (see Mourinho).
I think Ancelotti is beginning to realize that, here at the Bridge, the use of the vintage hair dryer treatment is needed every now and then – even if he’s hardly reached Ferguson-level rants (yet). Good on him.

Winter World Cup welcomed

The clamour for the 2022 World Cup to be played in January has grown with the international players' union the latest to call for a change from the usual June/July tournament. The move would mean the Premier League and other domestic football tournaments having to have a long winter break.
FIFA president Sepp Blatter and general secretary Jerome Valcke have both thrown their weight behind moves to stage the tournament in January to avoid the heat problems.Summer temperatures in Qatar can top 50 degrees C and players' union FIFPro are pleased with FIFA's willingness to consider changing the timing to winter.Tijs Tummers, secretary of FIFPro's technical committee, said: "We will have to take a careful look at the international match calendar, but FIFPro does not foresee any insurmountable problems in this regard."Space will have to be made for the tournament, even though many countries already have a winter break."In Europe, competitive matches will have to be played in August and the second half of May and the first half of June. If you look at what happened last weekend with weather problems in Europe because of heavy snowfall, you could see this as an advantage rather than as a problem."And it might perhaps turn out that the players will be fitter at the start of a winter World Cup than was the case last summer at the World Cup in South Africa."

Pepe Reina: Liverpool will fight for the title next season - EXCLUSIVE

How does a goalkeeper widely seen as the best in the Premier League end a year during which he became a World Cup winner? Riven by anxiety over his own form and the outlook for his club, as it happens. No matter the club records which have tumbled in his five years at Anfield or the glory of Spain's historic triumph in South Africa last summer, Pepe Reina is withering in his appraisal of his recent form. 'I'm not happy at all,' he says, with a furrowed brow and muted tone. Misfiring squad: Pepe Reina and histeam-mates have their backs to thewall in the league but the Spain WorldCup winner feels a couple of wins will see them back to their best 'I can be doing better in many ways. I'm disappointed because you always want to be really consistent and helping the team. I feel like there have been times so far this season when I haven't done that. I want to improve. 'I want to get back to the levels I was at last season. Always it comes down to the team performance. If the team are low on confidence, you can be low too. It's not a question of mistakes. It's about how you feel. I need to take a step back to take a step forward again and improve.' Never mind that Reina recently made another entry into Liverpool's history books by becoming the first man to keep 100 league clean sheets in fewer than 200 games, errors against Arsenal (in the Barclays Premier League) and Steaua Bucharest have shown all is not right. The dream: Reina is certain Liverpool can repeat their heroics Fortunately, help is at hand. While many sportsmen would rush to a psychologist to iron out their flaws, Reina simply picks up his phone within an hour of every game and calls home to speak to his father Miguel, the former Atletico Madrid and Spain goalkeeper. 'He's not just my Dad, he's my best friend,' Reina says. 'He is always someone I listen to. He is the first person I call. We always have a review of what has happened. There is nobody better to speak to, as he knows me better than anyone.' Mention of Miguel restores a smile to the 28-year-old's face and soon Reina is speaking enthusiastically on many different subjects, ranging from the unforgettable month during the summer when Spain's footballers created history to team-mate Dirk Kuyt's questionable golf swing. 'There are a few here who play; maybe seven or eight of us,' says Reina, who wishes he could play off 'much lower' than his current 18 handicap. 'Danny (Agger) is probably the best. Stevie (Gerrard) is OK. Dirk? He fancies himself but he is the worst.' There are also reflections on learning his trade in Barcelona's fabled La Masia academy, the bonds he formed with Xavi, Andres Iniesta and other illustrious graduates and how he led the celebrations when Spain returned to Madrid with the World Cup. 'You dream when you are young about being a world champion,' he recalls. 'It was an unforgettable day and the four that followed were equally amazing. But the Barcelona shirt being put on Cesc (Fabregas)? It had nothing to do with me!' It has not, however, been a year of relentless highs. Rafa Benitez leaving Liverpool in June hit Reina hard but not as much as the club's failure to maintain the kind of position in the table which they had once taken for granted, all played out against the backdrop of ownership problems. 'I was really worried and nobody knew what was going to happen,' says Reina, looking back on New England Sports Ventures' October takeover. 'But at the same time, there was nothing we could do. I just kept hoping that the best ending in Liverpool's interest would come along. On the ball: Reina believes Liverpool's new owners have restored positivity at the club 'Now the owners are bringing back the positivity. Hopefully we can develop something good. I haven't spoken to them much but you can see they are doing everything with a lot of thought. It is encouraging that they are thinking about what to do and when to do it. We have to give them time.' But will he? Manchester United and Arsenal would both like to sign him and Reina is not someone who would want to spend the best years of his career in a team that cannot compete but questions about his own future are met with the straightest of bats. Enlarge 'I have a contract for another five-and-a-half years,' he said. 'I am committed here and I want us to win titles. What else can I say or do? It is something the press talks about. All I want to talk about is Liverpool and hopefully finishing as high as we can. 'That is where Liverpool should be year in, year out. That is what we want and that is what we are all looking for. We will hope it can be that way again but, at the moment, it is not like that. We have to be realistic and at the minute we are fighting for different targets. 'I hope within a year, or a couple of years, we can be up there again. We want to be back competing with the top clubs again. That is how it should be. This is my sixth season here and I think I know something about the club now and how the supporters think.' Three wins over the Christmas holiday against Blackpool, Wolves and Bolton would certainly give Roy Hodgson and company a lift going into the new year but there would be no better fillip than winning at Old Trafford on January 9. A long run in the FA Cup is important for so many reasons. 'If we pick up and get some good results over the next 10 or 12 days, everyone will be that bit more excited and we will be back on track,' he says. 'But Manchester United in the FA Cup? Yeah, yeah. That is the big one. 'It could transform things if we win there. Our aim is to win every title we are involved in but we have to recognise it is not the best draw. But it is not the best draw for them. It is going to be a tough game. All we can do is aim to finish as high as we can. Maybe 2011 will be like a fresh start.'  Pepe Reina was speaking on behalf of Thomas Cook Sport, official travel partner of Liverpool FC. In the build-up to Christmas you can guarantee a seat at any Liverpool FC home game with a Thomas Cook Sport Match Break available online at: www.thomascooksport.com or by calling: 0844 800 9900.  Liverpool? Jack Wilshere's England Under 21 call riles Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger

Jack Wilshere is on course for club v country rows next year with England confirming their determination to take the 'strongest possible team' to the European Under 21 Championship.
The news will not be well received by Arsene Wenger, because the 18-year-old is expected to be involved in Fabio Capello's senior squad in the second half of the season, and Wenger has long argued that players should be in either one international team or the other - although he was forced to concede defeat in a power struggle with Stuart Pearce over Theo Walcott's appearance in the last Under 21 finals, in Sweden. Walcott, 21, is still eligible for next year's tournament in Denmark, but is likely to be excused as he does not need the experience to develop, as some others do. Club v country: Arsene Wenger is not happy with Jack Wilshere's potential England Under 21s involvement Wilshere will be expected to make himself available for the two-week tournament, which starts on June 11, a week after Capello's team play a Euro 2012 qualifier with Switzerland at Wembley. The same goes for Manchester City's Micah Richards, Sunderland's Jordan Henderson, Kieran Gibbs and any other eligible players who have already broken into the senior ranks. Sir Trevor Brooking, the FA's director of football development, said: 'If there was anyone Fabio wanted, we'd like to feel they could play and then join up with the Under 21s.' Held back: Walcott was hampered by injuries after Under 21s duty Wenger believes Walcott's injury problems at the start of last season, which robbed him of his form and cost him his place in the World Cup squad, were rooted in the fact he was unable to rest properly in the summer when he played for the Under 21s. But the FA are prepared to take a tough stance, prioritising the event above the Under 20 World Cup in Colombia in July and not asking players to feature in both. 'We would like to try and get as strong a side as possible for that tournament,' said Brooking. 'We've got a shocker of a draw, with Spain, Czech Republic and Ukraine. 'It will be a really good test but we will need our best players. Kieran Gibbs, Jack Wilshere, Blackburn's Phil Jones, Everton's Jack Rodwell, Danny Welbeck, Chelsea's Daniel Sturridge, Jordan Henderson. 'Sometimes, there's a suggestion that once you've played for the seniors, you shouldn't be involved in the Under 21s. It happened with David Bentley, where he played in a B international and suddenly his club thought he was a senior player and he pulled out of the Under 21s. It didn't help David and it didn't help us. 'Theo Walcott has been in the senior squad for quite a long time now, so his involvement would be up for discussion. The other lads haven't been regulars. When you're a young player you should play when the opportunity is there.' Brooking can be encouraged by the fact that James Milner, Joe Hart, Adam Johnson, Gabriel Agbonlahor, Walcott, Gibbs and Richards have all been capped by Capello since playing for Pearce in Sweden, when England reached the final before losing 4-0 to Germany. Capello's men had a terrible 2010, but the Under 17s won the Euros, the Under 19s reached the last four and the Under 21s recovered from a seemingly hopeless position to qualify for Denmark. We need you: England Under 21s boss Stuart Pearce intends to pick his strongest side available for the European Championships next summer It is the Under 17 European title winners, featuring Josh McEachran and Connor Wickham, who have been hailed as the next 'golden generation'. Most have now moved up to the Under 19s and will be part of the Under 21 team of 2013, when England hope to host the Euros. These players will be in their mid-20s for the World Cup in Russia and some may play in an Under 23 Great Britain team at the Olympics.  Arsenal power games continue as Usmanov aims to top Kroenke's stake Lazio ready to rescue Bendtner from Arsenal as striker hints at exitEmpty handed: Wenger refuses to splash the cash on big namesARSENAL FC

Roberto Mancini should not fight to keep troublesome Carlos Tevez...

The Argentina striker has had problems at practically all his clubs and is not as good as everyone makes out
Manchester City's Roberto Mancini, right, is not the first manager to have trouble with Carlos Tevez. Photograph: Jon Super/AP

Roberto Mancini celebrates a year in charge of Manchester City this weekend, a year when it must have frequently occurred to him that had he known what he was letting himself in for at Eastlands he might have decided that waiting for another chance to manage a normal club in his native land was not such a bad position to be in after all.Not that the Italian has done badly. At this point last year, when Mark Hughes was being untidily removed for making insufficiently swift progress, City and their supporters would have gladly accepted a promise of going into the following Christmas in the top three, a point above Chelsea and within a single good result of the leaders.

While one could be picky and say City's elevation has more to do with Chelsea's loss of form and Manchester United's unusually high number of draws, Mancini has undeniably brought about an improvement. After the same 17 league games that Hughes was allowed last season, Mancini has won nine to his predecessor's seven, and drawn five instead of eight. He has lost one more game, true, but City have still not lost as often as Arsenal or Chelsea. Most importantly, Mancini never supervised a deflating sequence of seven straight draws, seeing his side held by such luminaries as Burnley, Hull City and Wigan Athletic, which was what led to confidence in Hughes draining away.So the manager, at least, has cause for celebration. He is not the problem; he just has to deal with the problem. The problem being that events of the last few weeks have made it appear Sir Alex Ferguson may have been right all along. Carlos Tevez is a more than useful player whom no one would mind having at their club. But he is not worth buying at any price. In fact he can be trouble at any price, and any price is what the Argentinian and his adviser/erstwhile owner will charge.

Roy Hodgson hopeful over reinforcements......

Liverpool manager Roy Hodgson has expressed his hope that he will be able to strengthen his squad next month

The Reds boss had discussions with principal owner John Henry and Tom Werner about the squad and what transfer activity is required when the Americans were on Merseyside earlier this week. However, the 63-year-old suggested he was still not sure what the January window would bring."I can only hope we get one or two of the injured players back in certain areas," said Hodgson. "I can only hope if there is any possibility of transfers in the January window that will help us and make us a better team I will be given the opportunity to take those players."He added: "With injuries to Jamie Carragher (shoulder), Daniel Agger (calf), Jay Spearing (ankle) and Gerrard (hamstring) we have been hit hard in certain areas."My ambition to improve the squad is shared by the owners but we will have to wait and see what possibilities are there - if any - and what they would like to do."The positive signs emerging from Melwood on Friday suggested Gerrard would be fit to return from a month-long absence from a hamstring injury against Fulham - the club Hodgson left in the summer - at home on Saturday evening.Liverpool have won the last four Barclays Premier League matches at Anfield and the return of their captain would be a huge boost heading into the busy festive period."Four home games out of six (in the next month) is important because Anfield has been good to us in recent weeks," added the Reds boss."We are playing a lot of those teams who are around or below us in the table so there is a lot of responsibility [on the players]."The problem these days is that there is not a great deal of difference in point between the sixth team and ones at the bottom.

Agent Refuses To Rule Out January Move For Milan Playmaker Ronaldinho

Milan could lose Ronaldinho next month

Milan playmaker Ronaldinho could still leave the Rossoneri in January, according to his agent and brother Roberto de Assis.
The Brazilian has failed to hold down a regular place in coach Massimiliano Allegri's starting line-up and has also struggled with injuries so far this campaign.
His brother has added fuel to speculation that the 30-year-old, whose current contract with the club expires at the end of the current season, could head for the exit door next month.
“Football evolves in such a rapid fashion,” De Assis toldJogo Aberto. “Today a transfer away from Milan seems difficult, but I don’t know what will happen in the next few days. Everything can change suddenly.
“Returning to Brazil would allow him to win the two titles he is missing, the Copa Libertadores and the Brasileirao," he added. "It would be very important to add these to his trophy cabinet.

“Where could he go? A great deal depends on the club, the coach and the project that is proposed to him.

Valencia blow two-goal lead in draw with Osasuna....

MADRID, Dec 13 (Reuters) - Valencia were whistled off after squandering a 3-1 lead to draw 3-3 at home to Osasuna on Monday, missing out on the chance to close on the Champions League places in La Liga

The visitors, who had started the day without an away win in the league, almost snatched victory when Masoud struck the crossbar in the last minute.
Valencia stay fifth with 25 points from 15 games, three short of fourth-placed Espanyol who lost 2-1 at Athletic Bilbao at the weekend. Barcelona top the standings with 40 points, two ahead of Real Madrid.
Roberto Soldado had volleyed Valencia in front after 24 minutes and Marius Stankevicius doubled the lead from a corner soon after.Juanfran pulled one back for the Navarrans in the 41st, but Valencia immediately restored their two-goal cushion when Aritz Aduriz headed in from a near post corner.
Valencia goalkeeper Cesar, who had just returned from injury for the hosts, committed an error to allow Miguel Flano to pull one back for the visitors with half an hour to go.
Osasuna piled forward looking for the equaliser, striking the woodwork twice before striker Juan Aranda scrambled the ball home three minute from time.

Europa League - Kuyt relishing facing old team-mates

Liverpool striker Dirk Kuyt is hoping Roy Hodgson will not decide to rest him for Wednesday's Europa League clash with his old club Utrecht

The Reds have already qualified for the knockout stages and boss Hodgson has hinted he will make changes for the Anfield match, meaning Kuyt could miss out on a reunion with the club he represented from 1998 to 2003.
The 30-year-old told Liverpool`s website: "I have missed a few games through injury this season and I hope I can feature against my former club.
"We play a lot of games in a season and obviously you can't play in every game but it would be nice to play against Utrecht at Anfield.
"We have done really well in the Europa League and it would be nice to finish the group stages with a good performance at home.
"I had some good times at Utrecht and a lot of people are still there at the club who I am good friends with."

Valencia 3-3 Osasuna: Second-Half Los Rojillos Comeback Ensures Points Are Shared

Valencia held a 3-1 lead at half-time before a second-half comeback from Osasuna ensured the points were shared.

Valencia and Osasuna have played out an entertaining 3-3 draw at the Mestalla this evening. Los Che had a stranglehold of the match, taking a 3-1 lead into half-time before two second-half goals from the visitors ensured the points were shared.
The home side started the brighter, as Juan Mata fired a shot on goal with the game only two minutes old, but Ricardo saved, diving to his right. Two minutes later, he was required to block a Roberto Soldado strike from inside the six-yard box.
Juanfran took on two defenders, sprinting towards goal on 10 minutes, but his attempted shot was spoilt by a diving Ricardo Costa, and no one was able to get onto the rolling ball.
Los Che's hard work paid off on 24 minutes, as Mata broke free inside the box to cross a low ball into the middle for the awaiting Roberto Soldado, who volleyed home on his left to make it 1-0
Aritz Adruiz looked to add a second goal five minutes later as he twisted and turned his way in the penalty area to fire directly at Ricardo, but the 'keeper could only parry it, almost falling into Joaquin's path.
The margin was then extended on 32 minutes when Soldado's first touch from a corner was squared for Mata, who was tackled from behind and brought down, but the ball fell toMarius Stankevicius, who smashed his shot into the roof of the net.
Juanfran brought the visitors back into the match with only five minutes left in the first-half, as he rose to header home a drifting Masoud cross from the left.
But the two-goal lead was restored only moments later asAdruiz was unmarked in the six-yard box and he headed home from a swinging corner.
The second-half started at a slower pace compared to the first, as both sides struggled to find and create any space.
Despite the scoreline, the visitors weren't giving up, and pulled another goal back just on the hour as Aranda's early ball caused Cesar to come off his line and try to punch clear, but he failed to connect, allowing the ball to spill into the path of Miguel Flano, and he slotted home to make it 3-2.
Monreal almost levelled proceedings six minutes later, but slipped at the crucial time and was only able to hit the side-netting.
The home side came close to regaining their two-goal lead when Mata found Soldado pushing forward in the box, but he could not direct his shot past Ricardo.
Dejan Lekic was only inches away from levelling the score, as he timed his run in the box well, but his header hit the right-post before travelling across goal to hit the left and then bouncing out into play.
Aranda turned from provider to scorer, as he was the first to capitalise on the loose ball in the box, and struck his shot past Cesar to make it 3-3 with three minutes to go.
Osasuna kept pressing, looking for all three points, but could not find the elusive fourth goal, ensuring the points were shared.

Park The Punisher................

Old Trafford was set alight tonight as we saw Manchester United playe hosts to fellow Premier League title challengers Arsenal. It was the Red Devils who looked the part though, as they went on top of the EPL table with a 1-0 win thanks to a clever Ji Sung Park header, despite Rooney missing a penalty.

Man City reject Tevez request..........

Manchester City have rejected a written transfer request from Carlos Tevez and have expressed disappointment with their captain's representative.

Tevez has established himself as a fans' favourite at City since joining from arch-rivals United 18 months ago, but is now keen to quit the club.
Reports have claimed that the Argentine striker is disillusioned with life at City under Roberto Mancini and he has often spoken of his desire to return to his homeland.
He was involved in a bust-up with manager Mancini after being substituted during last weekend's 1-0 home win over Bolton Wanderers.
The 26-year-old missed his side's 3-1 victory at former club West Ham on Saturday through suspension and had been given permission to go back to Argentina.
Tevez has now told the club of his desire to leave, but City are standing firm and have knocked back their skipper's request.
City say the player's agent recently asked to discuss a new contract for the influential forward, but the club will not open talks midway through the season.
"It is with disappointment that we confirm to our supporters that Carlos Tevez has submitted a written transfer request," read a club statement. "The club can also confirm that the request has been rejected.
"The club remains disappointed by this situation and particularly with the actions of Carlos' representative.
"Roberto Mancini and all at the club have shown, and will continue to show, sensitivity to Carlos' personal circumstances including the issue of his family being based overseas.
"Indeed following his suspension as a result of the game against Bolton, Carlos requested, and was given, special dispensation by the manager to take leave overseas.
The written transfer request is in stark contrast to Carlos' stated position in both public and club contexts. Significantly, over recent months, the club has also received numerous requests from Carlos' representative to renegotiate and improve his playing contract as well as more recently a request to extend that contract by another year.
"However, in line with the club's policy of not negotiating playing contracts mid-season this has not been granted. Carlos' current five-year contract has three-and-a-half years to run and he is the highest paid player at the Manchester City Football Club.
"This is both an unfortunate and unwelcome distraction and the club will remain focused on the games ahead in what is turning out to be a very promising season. The door remains open for Carlos to be selected to play."
Tevez has scored 39 goals in 60 appearances for City and the team went level with Arsenal at the top of the Premier League table with victory at West Ham.
